Helian

also: Helian

Trakl's longest and most celebrated poem bears this invented name as its title (Gedichte, section 49). Helian is a dying young figure — not quite a person, more a soul in its dissolution — whose autumn and decline are traced through images of novices, lepers, psalms, and the Kidron valley. The name may suggest solar ('Helios') resonance.
