De profundis
also: De profundis, Psalm 130, Out of the depths
Psalm 130 in the Hebrew Bible, beginning 'De profundis clamavi ad te, Domine' (Out of the depths I have cried to you, Lord). One of the seven Penitential Psalms; it forms the opening of the Catholic funeral rite. Trakl uses the Latin title for section 31 of Gedichte, a poem of desolation and crystalline angels that inverts the psalm's hope.
