Olive Grove of Gethsemane

olive-tree

also: Ölbaum, olive tree, Gethsemane

The garden on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem where Jesus prayed and was arrested (Matthew 26). Trakl's 'dark of the olive-tree' in Helian evokes this setting, framing his dying protagonist's end as a Passion echo.
